TARGETED PARENTING PROGRAM

1. INTRODUCTION

Pormpur Paanthu Aboriginal Corporation provides a targeted parenting program that supports families of children from birth to 8 years of age living in Pormpuraaw

2. SCOPE

Provide a range of educational and personal development programs and activities targeting parents of children 0-8 years;

Support mothers and their family networks in providing the necessary care, nurturing and educational development opportunities for their children;

Deliver public awareness raising activities and responses to issues identified by community members and local organisations;

Develop and provide early childhood development and educational resources for use in the home; and
Integrate with a range of sectors which intersect with children and families to ensure a more coordinated and responsive approach to delivering services to families with children.

3. SERVICE DESCRIPTION

The Targeted Parenting Program provides a range of educational and personal development programs and activities targeting parents of children 0-8 years. Particular support is offered for mothers and their family networks in providing the necessary care, nurturing and educational development opportunities for their children during the formative years.

The service delivers public awareness raising activities and responses to issues as identified by community members and local organisations. The service increases the capacity of parents to nurture and bond with their children by providing early childhood development and educational resources, which can also be delivered within the home.

4. TARGET GROUP

Parents of children from birth to 8 years living in Pormpuraaw

5. OUTPUT DESCRIPTION

Information, advice, referrals and personal supportoffered to engage and support families with children under the age of twelve.

Creation of educational resources to use within Playgroup and Outside School Hours Care and to be taken home to assist families in delivering these strategies at home.

Maintain daily records of attendance, referrals, information, advice and support.

Maintain monthly reporting to the Board and six monthly reporting to the Department.
