CHILDREN AND FAMILY SUPPORT (CaFS) PROGRAM

1.INTRODUCTION

Pormpur Paanthu Aboriginal Corporation provides a support service to children and families at risk of entering the child protection system.

2.SCOPE

Support the safety and wellbeing of children and young people through the use of prevention and early intervention strategies; and
Support vulnerable children and families who are at risk of entering the children protection system.

3.SERVICE DESCRIPTION

The Child and Family Support service aims to support the safety and wellbeing of children and young people through the use of prevention and early intervention strategies. The service works with vulnerable children and families who have been assessed by the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services as ‘not in need of protection’ but who may be at risk of entering the children protection systems at another time.

4.TARGET GROUP

Vulnerable children and families living in Pormpuraaw, who may be at risk of entering the child protection system

5.OUTPUT DESCRIPTION

Information, advice, referrals and personal support offered to engage and support families with children under the age of twelve.

Employ educators who have obtained or are studying an early childhood or education related Certificate III or higher qualification.

Maintain daily records of attendance, referrals, information, advice and support.

Maintain monthly reporting to the Board and reporting to the Department.
