CHILD CARE HUB

1.INTRODUCTION

Pormpur Paanthu Aboriginal Corporation promotes early childhood development through early childhood education and parenting programs for families and children living in Pormpuraaw.

2.SCOPE

To provide support to children and families through a wide range of activities and respond effectively to the diverse needs of children and families in the community;

Encourage and support access and participation to early childhood education;

Promote early childhood development through the use of prevention and early intervention strategies; and
Use a range of strategies and approaches to support equitable and culturally appropriate child and family services.

3.SERVICE DESCRIPTION

The HUB provides support to children and families through a wide range of activities and focuses on the provision of early childhood development. The service encourages and supports access and participation to early childhood education in our current Playgroup service. The service responds effectively to the diverse needs of children and families in the community including working with families and children who find themselves in vulnerable situations. It promotes early childhood development through the use of prevention and early intervention strategies within our CAFS service. The HUB provides a range of educational and personal development programs and activities through the Targeted Parenting Program. The service engages and integrates with a range of sectors, which intersect with children and families, which is vital to ensure a more coordinated and responsive approach to delivering services to families with children. The service also integrates with other relevant stakeholders and local level services to improve experiences of families with children.

4.TARGET GROUP

Families living in Pormpuraaw with children aged from birth to 12 years of age.

5.OUTPUT DESCRIPTION

Information, advice, referrals and personal support offered to engage and support families with children under the age of twelve.

Employ educators who have obtained or are studying an early childhood or education related Certificate III or higher qualification.

Maintain daily records of attendance, referrals, information, advice and support.

Maintain monthly reporting to the Board and reporting to the Department.

Balance the services income and expenditure within each budget.

Crisis information and referrals.
Personal support:

  • Individual advocacy
  • Needs assessments and management of support plans
  • Mutual support and referral to group counselling sessions
  • Personal and/or individual support

Support for children, families and carers:

  • Child care and support
  • Family and child assistance
  • General support for children, families and carers

Reporting to Department

  • Quarterly Financial Acquittal Reports
  • Biannual Periodic Performance Reports
  • 1 Audited Financial Statement
